Lighter load to the scales

Fourteen anglers brought bags weighing 20 pounds or more to the scales on Day 2.

BASSTrakk shows a much different scenario developing on Day 3.

Kevin VanDam, Hank Cherry and Chris Lane, first through third place, respectively, are pushing the 20-pound mark. Ish Monroe just made the mark and Edwin Evers is close to it.

Even so the weights are way off from yesterday.

Why is that?

This is Toledo Bend, where catching 20-pound limits should be common this time of year.

Here’s a theory. On Day 2 the wind blew, although the fishing was under post-front conditions. Wind-driven current was good for Kevin VanDam. The same held true for Chris Lane, who said wind helped stimulate his topwater bite.

Today there is very little wind. The skies are partly cloudy and that’s scattered the fish. Only two presumptions but it’s obvious the overall catch is off.
