Kreiger highlight of of big day at Pickwick

It was worth the wait, especially for Koby Kreiger. After two days of postponements due to high water, Day 1 at a now swollen Lake Pickwick produced plenty of fireworks. Kreiger, the 52-year-old Alva, Fla., resident, had the heaviest of six bags over 20 pounds. Kreiger weighed a mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth bass that totaled 25 pounds, 12 ounces. It included a 6-pound, 6-ounce smallmouth.

Clark Wendlandt had the sixth-heaviest of the 20-pound bags – 20-1, which included the big bass of the day, a 7-pound, 6-ounce largemouth. Fifty-one of the 100 anglers weighed 5-bass limits. The field will be cut to the top 50 after the Day 2 weigh-in, and 50th place after Day 1 was 13-1.
