Atkins working methodically

We shared earlier today that the post-front conditions, clouds and breeze today may require anglers to “survive” today with better conditions on the horizon for the weekend.

Atkins has methodically worked his marked brush piles today using his Lowrance Active Target and a suspending Jerkbait to add a couple of six-pounders to his catch.

Changing out the hooks on his Jerkbait to short-shank round bend hooks because “They help keep the bait suspended above the brush,” Atkins says.

The Realtree Fishing Pro from Alabama is working on a nice bag of Santee Cooper bass with four bass in his Falcon Livewell meaning another catch will only add to his day.

When things were slow early, Atkins showed great patience in staying the course and not bailing on his game plan and that has seemed to pay off for him through half a day.
