Jordon close to another top 12

Kelly Jordon is on the verge of making his second straight top 12 cut, after his third place finish at Winyah Bay, S.C., two weeks ago. BASSTrakk currently shows him in 12th place with 13-14 on the day. As we learned at Winyah Bay, Jordon uses a digital scale to weigh each fish, so that weight is pretty accurate.

Jordon started the day in 38th place with 24-11 after a surprising day of 13-6 on Bull Shoals. He thought he could catch a big bag sight-fishing for largemouth bass, but his limit included only one largemouth – a 3 1/2-pounder– plus a 2 1/2-pound smallmouth and three spotted bass in the 2-plus pounds range.

“It was the day of the spotted bass, and the smallmouth,” Jordon said. “Largemouth took the day off. The largemouth with the water dropping were super spooky where I was fishing. I was fishing for 17, 18 pounds easy. But the fish wouldn’t stay there. They’d leave. It was really frustrating.”

It appears Jordon is feeling considerably less frustration today.
