Yesterday Carl Jocumsen told us how he found his magic spot, and it’s unlike anything you could have imagined. Last winter, he made a scouting trip to the lakes for the very first time.
“I launched my boat and didn’t even know if I could put my boat on pad,” he said. “I was worried about running aground or hitting something because it’s such a dangerous lake for a newcomer.”
Instead of risking damaging his boat, Jocumsen cautiously spent much of his scouting by idling around areas. It paid off.
“It’s how I found the magic spot,” he added. “I wouldn’t have found it any other way.”
What else Jocumsen credited for finding his areas is the no information rule.
“It’s leveled the playing field, and it proves how we must find out everything on our own,” he said. “I think it’s better that way, because you learn more that way, and can expand on what you find, or eliminate what’s not working, to be a better angler.
