Jocumsen sighting

With most of his BassTrakk limit weighing 15 pounds, 4 ounces in the livewell, Carl Jocumsen stopped at this bridge located just inside The Gut. He was pitching a bait into the pilings, where the bass awaited in ambush for passing baitfish.

Nearby was Lee Livesay, also with a limit weighing 13 pounds. Livesay was using a two-prong approach at the bridge. He cast a jerkbait into the pilings; he picked up a topwater when schooling fish erupted behind him in the open water. Moments after this photo was taken, he idled past Andy Crawford, telling him that he was headed out to fish for smallmouth.

Yesterday, I flew the drone over and around the bridge. My boater, Bobby Bordeaux said the bridge is popular for its vast and varied manmade structure, all of it used by the bass as ambush points inside the current. Pilings of various types and sizes, and other construction structures make it indeed unique.

What’s interesting is the state of flux going on with the anglers. It’s like a transition of guys switching from largemouth to smallmouth, or the other way around.
