It’s hot, and it’s tough

If you didn’t realize how hot it is on the Potomac River this week, Pete Robbins’ blog photo of his graph showing a 90-degree water surface temperature reading put it in perspective. And Kevin VanDam’s zero on Day 1 stated everything you need to know about how tough the bass fishing is now. Four of the 107 anglers zeroed each of the first two days, but none both days.

 There has also been some significant bass-catching happening under these hot, tough conditions. They’re summed up in the chart below. There was a tie for big bass each day. Justin Lucas and Luke Clausen both caught a 5-pound, 9-ounce bass on Day 1; Lucas and Jared Lintner both caught a 5-8 on Day 2.
