It’s a different lake today

The Top 12 anglers will see a significantly different Lake Texoma than the one they left Friday afternoon. Between 3 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. today, the lake level has dropped a foot – 1.12 to be exact. But everyone seems to think that will only make the bass fishing better.

“There is so much cover that’s back where you can’t get to it, dropping the water is not going to do anything but help,” said Casey Ashley. “It’s going to bring those fish back to the outside. And when it drops, you get new targets, so you feel like you’re fishing new stuff.”

These guys have been fishing “new stuff” since they got here. The lake was rising then, during practice. It crested at 626.13 feet above sea level at 11 p.m. Monday. The normal summer conservation pool level is 619. Today at 6 a.m. it was 623.25. That’s a drop of 2.88 feet since Monday night.
