Steve Bowman and I got confused for just a minute. Not that that is unusual. In Honey Creek we happened upon David Fritts, winner of the 1993 Classic. Did he make the Classic this year? Well, no. Turns out Fritts, who will be working at the Expo, came to Oklahoma a couple days early to test the depth on a Berkley deep diving crankbait that’s in development. “We’ve figured out some really special things,” he said. “But I can’t tell you about it until later,” he said with a smile. Fritts is the lure designer behind Berkley’s well received line of hard baits that debuted in 2015.
Fritts made it clear he’s not fishing today and was doing everything possible to stay out of the way of the guys practicing for the Classic.
