Iaconelli, Lefebre get it started

Mike Iaconelli began his day with another boat deck handstand, then quickly put an explanation point on it with a 3-pound, 7-ounce largemouth. Iaconelli noticed baitfish moving, made a cast into them and hooked up.

“That’s being observant, right there,” he said. “That’s how you want to start today. That’s a 4-pounder, bro. That’s how you want to start your day!”

As usual with “Big Eyes” Ike, his “4-pounder, bro,” weighed 3-7, but that’s one of the bigger bass we’ve seen over the past two days.

Dave Lefebre quickly followed with a 2-7 and a 2-12. Lefebre caught most of his fish on boat docks the previous two days, but that’s not the pattern he found in practice. Lefebre’s best practice pattern was snapping a jig offshore. That’s what he’s doing today, and obviously he’s got a reason, two of them, actually, to stick with it for awhile.
