Second-year Bassmaster Elite Series angler Mike Huff just got a glimpse through the showroom window, so to speak, of what he’d like to have from the St. Lawrence River. As he reeled in a smallmouth bass in the 3-pound range, he said, “There’s another one with it. I hooked the wrong one! That one with it is massive!”
Huff, who is from Corbin, Ky., did just fine with what he hooked and landed on Day 1, finishing in an eighth-place tie with 21-8. On a calm day like today, in these clear waters, Huff won’t be the only angler seeing some big smallmouth bass that will haunt his dreams.
