Hudnall all alone

It’s rare an Elite angler has water all to himself, but that’s the position Louisiana’s Derek Hudnall finds himself in.

The pro is off the St. Johns River, with not another competitor in sight. The closest is Matt Herren, but he disappeared around the corner from Hudnall’s stretch of bayou.

Hudnall, who came into today in second place with 22-5, caught a 9 1/2-pounder in here yesterday.

He said the big bass came in the first 40 minutes of fishing, but that was after a good delay.

Hudnall is slowly working the bank this morning looking for spawners.

He’s been blind casting, though, and he told me he could only see bedders every now and then.
