Britt Myers, Kelly Jordon and Brett Hite have basically been holding their respective spots in the standings all day, inching up with limits of 2- to 3-pounders. But Hite just leapfrogged the other two with a 5 1/2-pounder. He culled one that weighed just over a pound.
“How about that cull!” Hite said. “I knew it. Just be patient. It’s just getting right. But I haven’t got much time left. She was on a stump. I hit a stump and all the sudden, wham-o.”
Hite is going to give himself another half-hour here. Because of the high winds, which are creating whitecaps in his area of the Cooper River, Hite said he’s going to allow an extra 30 minutes to get back to the check-in area.
