Yesterday while interviewing Greg Hackney he provided me with this interesting quote.
“I’m only using one bait.”
Using only one lure on a lake with over 1,000 miles of shoreline, all of it flooded, provides a hint that Hackney is confident with a single bait.
Confidence in a single lure usually comes with the same positive mental attitude about a pattern.
Hackney said he eliminated a wide selection of baits until he determined the best choice for his pattern. The repetition of using the same lure also allows his mind to stay more focused on the changing conditions everyone will encounter today.
“The fish have lost that loving feeling,” quipped Hackney. “They are everywhere.”
So are the anglers. But right now on the top of the BASStrakk leader board is Hackney.
