The question of the day has been answered in the affirmative for Day 1 leader Jeff Gustafson. After catching a couple a smallmouth bass that didn’t meet the 18-inch minimum, Gussy put a keeper in the boat at 8:20.
“That’ll take the pressure off a little bit,” he said.
Gustafson had no way of knowing if the fish he caught in 18 to 20 feet of water yesterday would still be there today. Smallmouth are known to “ghost you” – here one day, gone the next. But they’re still here for now.
