As this morning’s three-hour Classic Bracket session began, Fred “Boom Boom” Roumbanis expressed his fear, saying, “Here’s the thing that scares me right now. We’ve got a full moon. These fish have been feeding all night.”
Roumbanis has already experienced a finicky bite, which he’s blaming on the moon. Interestingly, this matchup of No. 1-seeded Roumbanis, who weighed 16-1 yesterday, and No. 12-seeded Scott Rook, who had 5-4, features the two anglers who tied for big bass honors yesterday. Both caught a 4-pound, 2-ounce spotted bass. However, Rook had only a 1-pound, 2-ounce bass to go with his lunker.
“It took me all day to catch these two,” said Rook, with a smile, on the weigh-in stage yesterday. “I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow.”
