Fritts’ mixed bag

Ott DeFoe is mixing up his presentation with a mixed bag of topwater, subsurface weighted and weightless plastics and more.

So is David Fritts, who told me yesterday that was his plan all along.

Fritts, whose first B.A.S.S. event on Okeechobee came in 1981, is bringing some of that decades old experience to the current day.

“I’ve got a lot of experience here and I’m just doing what I like to do,” he said.

Not surprisingly, topping that list is fishing with a crankbait. He’s also using a jig and weighted soft plastics to catch his fish.

As a result, Fritts has moved inside the Top 12 cut.

Depending on where he fishes tomorrow the variety of baits might pay off considering the incoming gusty winds.
