The diversity of the Potomac River is shining as hot as the summertime sun. Watch the LIVE coverage and you will have already seen the following.
Each of the top four anglers is fishing a different way, with leader Justin Lucas bringing a West Coast style of angling to the East Coast.
Lucas is starting with a drop shot and then switching to a hand poured worm. Both rig and lure were invented in his native California. He’s concentrating on a pier bordered by deep water and an expansive grass flat.
Brent Ehrler, another skilled West Coast angler, is fishing with a homemade bladed jig on a large flat with sparse vegetation. He says the bass are preying upon bluegill and the jig matches that food source.
Jacob Powroznik is fishing a ditch that slices through a flat covered in milfoil.
Jason Christie is camped out on a half-mile stretch of milfoil and fishing a frog.
All four anglers seem very committed to their areas and strategies. That is a strong testimony about just how well this fishery has rebounded.
