Find the grass, catch the bass

Co-angler Dalton Tankersley just boat flipped this fish that he and his partner estimated to weigh 9-plus pounds. Photographer Andy Crawford has it closer to 7 pounds.

Regardless of the weight, there is one certainty about the bass fishing in Lake Harris. Success is contingent on the availability of aquatic vegetation, surprisingly void from most of the lake. The reason why is unconfirmed reports of it having been sprayed.

Less grass means more concentrations of anglers, as they eventually find the same thing in limited volume.

Andy reported six boats in the area around Tankersley and his boater. Harris is notorious for its community holes, and grass attracts the anglers and the bass.
