Every bite counts

Moments after fishing past Hackney, Powroznik hooked up with keeper number two.

It was special and didn’t take much time to get in the boat. But it adds to his day. We figure he has two fish for 5 1/2 pounds, possibly more.

Ounces will count today especially for Powroznik. The way these guys are catching them, even with a downturn in weight a few pounds one direction or the other could mean several points.

While Powroznik would never hope for the situation that has arose, he also knows the importance of the day better than most. He’s all of the sudden passed Hackney on the AOY list. And depending on what Gerald Swindle does could tighten the reins in a race that has all of the sudden has gotten more dramatic.

Powroznik is always laid back. And there’s a chance he’s not even thinking about the AOY at this point. But he’s extremely competitive and wants to win every event so the importance of staying with the pace is doubly important.

Like Morizo, he’s not getting a ton of bites, so everyone of them counts. Today, though, they just seem to count more.
