Evers and Martens

We've settled in on Edwin Evers. He's out on St. Clair and as we were motoring up he was putting one in the box. Not big he said. But a start. There are boats scattered all around in the distance. And despite this being a relatively calm day we are all bobbing and bouncing. There's nothing calm about it. But I also know it can be much worse.

Evers told me yesterday that he was going back to the same place he fished two years ago when he started this event with a commanding lead in the AOY points, but let the title get away to Aaron Martens.

I don't know if he's just set on proving something to these fish or himself.

Ironically, Martens has the commanding lead. And if not for a Day 2 zero at Chesapeake Bay, Evers might be in a position to pick up the pieces if Martens self-destructs. But he's likely too far behind for that.

Either way, he and Martens are the hot hands this season. Be interesting if one or both continue that streak on this fishery.
