Bob Downey just landed the biggest fish of the day and one of the biggest of the event — an 8-pounder that crushed his Storm Arashi Vibe lipless bait in The Springs area west of Lake George.
The fish gave Downey a scare when it ran under his boat and jumped on the opposite side. Seconds later, the fish cleared the hull and jumped again right in front of Downey.
Downey had a limit of approximately 22 pounds shortly after 9 o’clock. Adding this huge fish pushed him up to an estimated 27 pounds. (BassTrakk numbers are unofficial until weigh ins.)
