Day 3 begins under cloudless sky, 45 degrees

The field has been cut in half, the scoreboard is at zero and the semifinal Classic Bracket anglers will have 6 straight hours to fish Pokegama Lake today, instead of the 3-hour periods the previous two.

The day begins under a cloudless sky, a 4 miles-per-hour southeast breeze and 45 degrees. This should be fun: Mike Iaconelli vs. Ish Monroe, and Jacob Powroznik vs. Dave Lefebre.

Each one of these anglers has now had a practice day, and two 3-hour competition days to dissect Pokegama’s 6,612 acres. There’s an interesting mix of smallmouth and largemouth bass here. The consensus among the semifinalists is that a 15-pound, 5-bass limit is the target today, but 20-plus is possible on Pokegama, especially if the offshore smallmouth are biting.
