John Cox made a move to another bank with obvious shallow targets and almost immediately scored on a moving bait. The 3 1/2 pounder will not only improve his weight, but has to give him confidence that he’s doing the right thing, in the right sorts of places.
He doesn’t seem like the type of angler who’s easily rattled or thrown off his game plan. Even before he caught that fish, he was chatting casually with us, talking to his cameraman, and hadn’t affected the slouching posture of a defeated competitor.
The water temperature is ticking up. The fact that he caught that fish power fishing might be a further sign that his area is just starting to get right. We’ll stick with him.
