Cook hopes to cull this one

Drew Cook has two bass in his livewell as the 11 o’clock hour approaches. He hopes the second one, weighing 2-12, has been culled back into Santee Cooper before the day is over. But it did put him back on top of the BassTrakk leaderboard, ahead of Brandon Palaniuk, who briefly took the lead this morning.

Cook has had an interesting week, starting with the Day 1 first-place bag of 31-13. He still had the lead after Day 2, then spent an agonizing day off the water on Saturday, when the tournament was postponed due to an inclement weather forecast. Cook is staying where he can see the area where he’s caught most of his fish this week. And on a day that turned out to be better than expected weather-wise, he could see his area being pummeled by local anglers. He described it as “agonizing.”

“I finally closed the blinds,” he said.

Apparently, all the activity in his main area didn’t hamper him too much, as he maintained he lead in the tournament by adding another 24-3 Sunday.
