Fall transition. Check. Post cold front conditions. Check. And now, it’s the weekend on Chickamauga Lake. Add up all variables and you have enough challenges to contend with. Now there’s another. Fishing pressure, and not only from weekend warriors.
The evidence appeared in the hotel parking lot yesterday after the weigh-in. The parking lot began filling with boats from outside Tennessee. They are here for a 230-boat amateur event coming up next week.
While doing BASSCam videos this morning at the ramp, I posed that question to the guys. Many of them had that tournament on their mind, except for one. Matt Arey.
“That was one of the reasons why I chose to fish where I am,” he said. “I chose this certain area of the lake, because it’s hard to find, it doesn’t get a lot of pressure.”
It should come as no surprise that the ideal place to go, to escape the crowds, is the Hiwassee River, which is where he is now.
