Dustin Connell got on the scorecard first in his matchup with No. 2-seeded Greg Vinson, but he was left shaking his head about the one that got away. Connell hooked up with two bass on a topwater walking bait, and only the small one, weighing 13 ounces, made it in the boat.
“It had a giant with it,” Connell said. “I had ’em both on. It had a four-pounder with it.”
Every bass means something in these three-hour sessions. But a four-pounder is even more of a game-changer today than it was yesterday, hence Connell’s lament about the one that go away.
