Combs makes a move

We just ran about a mile with Keith Combs from his original starting point. He’s now fishing an offshore reef. There are two keys to this move. First, it’s at a windblown location. Next—and my amateur meteorologist self gets redemption today—there is bright sunshine.

I’m also getting schooled on the topic of blueback herring from Gettys Brannon, who got schooled on the subject by Davy Hite, one of the best. As they both have told me the sun brings the blueback up higher in the water column. Down below are the spotted bass, which come up to feed on the bait. Combs appears to be in a perfect spot for such a setup. Another idea is this windblown scenario could push he bait on top of whatever is below Combs. The scientific theory is the herring must eat too, and their food of choice is microscopic plankton.

And oh by the way, we are in 235 feet of water. Only 50 yards away is Combs, who is likely in 40ish feet of water. Oh well after all that he’s moving again.
