Combs’ bite heats up

Combs promised he would “smoke” them on this next spot. It’s not exactly a smoking yet, but there are some embers starting to heat up.

Combs just boated his first keeper from this spot, and it culled big for him. It looked to be in the 4- to 5-pound range and should give him about 22 pounds on the morning.

A few more of those and he will be back to where he was yesterday in terms of weight.

One thing to note, Combs is throwing a baitcaster. More on the bait later. And unlike the guys we’ve watched who have gently fought these bigger fish then landed them from the passenger seat, Combs simply jerked this big smallmouth in the boat like most of us would a 2-pounder.
