Clarkson catches fifth keeper

The home team of James Gillis and Craig Beucler from Clarkson University have just landed their fifth smallmouth and are now looking to upgrade.

Their last keeper was over 3 pounds and it took the duo about three or four minutes to finally coax it into the net.

Gillis and Beucler entered the day in fourth place after catching 21-9 on the first day of competition.

So far today, Gillis and Beucler are a little behind schedule but know they are around a good class of fish.

They said the current has slowed down some from yesterday, and Beucler said that has spread out the smallmouth in the area.

The game plan for the rest of the day will be finding areas with a little more current in hopes the fish are set up better.
