Christie: Great weather, lazy fish

Jason Christie admitted, “This sounds a little weird, but some of the best fishing days aren’t the best weather days on these highland reservoirs.”

And Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees is the specific Ozark Highlands reservoir that Christie was referring to, adding, “Pre-spawn fish want to sun. They get lazy.”

Can’t blame them. They’re more concerned with warming up than feeding up right now.

That explains Friday’s lack of expected fireworks, when Christie was the only angler to top 20 pounds. And you can consider it a forecast today, when it’s predicted to be in the 70s with bright sunshine and very little wind. In other words, just another lazy day of basking in the rays for Grand Lake’s bass, feeding on occasion, but mostly not. And a true test of bass fishing skills on Day Two of the Bassmaster Classic.
