Christie all alone

The blog title says a lot.

Yesterday Jason Christie told me he is fishing a simple lure using complex technology that are working in tandem to produce his catches.
Best of all, Christie has the area all to himself.
“I’m just cruising around, picking them off,” he said.
He’s picking them off with a 4-inch Yum tube rigged to a 3/4-ounce jig head.

Electronic eyes get the credit for his second place position on the scoreboard.

Specifically, using Garmin Panoptix technology. It lights up the display screen with fish and bait, shown in real time, using three different views that are revolutionary to marine electronics.

“It’s not really a sales pitch more than what it enables me to do.”
That is, like he said, cruise the area and look for individual fish. Christie told me he’s caught some of his fish by seeing them on his console unit, making a cast and setting the hook before even stepping on the front deck.
“I’m also just basically sight fishing in 20 feet of water.”
Watch out for Christie on two fronts. The tournament win and gaining ground in Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings.
