There’s certainly some similarities to this event as compared to last year at the Chesapeake Bay.
Last year Lowen was sitting behind Martens. This year it’s Lucas.
In both cases he had and has a lot of ground to make up. And in both cases how fish respond and when to the tide has everything to do with how he can catch up.
He feels pretty confident that he can reach 16 pounds today, which won’t be enough if Lucas is able to get over 10 pounds, which is expected.
Right now he’s slowly inching his way around a marina, hoping to hook up with a quality keeper that will help him get to a hoped-for 18 pounds.
This is where Edwin Evers had a few good catches and until this point, Lowen has honored Evers’ water.
With Evers’ out of the contest he has the opportunity to spread out a little and hopefully grow his weight.
Watching him poke around boat docks for the first time this week reminds us of Martens from a year ago when he poked around boat docks to beat Lowen.
Don’t know if all these similarities mean anything. But early on the final day, it’s interesting to note.
