The Santee Cooper Lakes are superb bass fisheries. But this vast 170,000 acres of mostly shallow water may be best known for catfish. Tournament leader Carl Jocumsen was disappointed earlier this morning to get a strong pull on his line and discover it was a catfish.
Generally, you think of live bait, cut bait, stink bait or some such when trying to catch catfish. But they’ll hit anything. As you can see in the photo above, Steve Kennedy has been catching them on an 8-inch glide bait. This is the biggest one he caught on a glide bait, but it was just one of several.
