Jason Casteel is proving the wind-driven bite is already on. He only has one in the livewell weighing 1 3/4 pounds, but it could be a harbinger of things to come.
"I haven't caught them this early in the last two days."
That's what Thursday's second-place angler told photographer Andy Crawford. Indeed, the wind could be stimulating the bass activity.
Casteel is casting a jerkbait along a windy shoreline, where baitfish could likely be swept against the cover. Likewise, the bass would be using the windy side off the grassline as an ambush point.
Stay tuned. There could be better things to come.
