Davy Hite stated it simply before this tournament started, saying, “I could see a guy catching 27 pounds one day and 10 the next. Consistency is going to be the key, just like at Guntersville.”
Day 1 leader Carl Jocumsen caught 25 pounds, 8 ounces yesterday. What’s he going to catch today? The same goes for everyone at the top of the leaderboard. At Thursday’s weigh-in, most of them thought what they’d found could be repeated for at least one more day.
But it’s fall, and Santee Cooper is fishing so much like Guntersville, Hite’s words should be kept in mind today.
