With sunrise painting the clouds on the Lake Fork horizon, Stetson Blaylock’s second cast of the day produced a 6-pound, 5-ounce bass. That’s a beautiful way to start Day 2. Blaylock doesn’t have much on the line this week. His Bassmaster Classic berth is assured, and unlike last year, when he finished second, Blaylock doesn’t have a shot at the AOY title this year.
However, Blaylock is competitive or he wouldn’t be doing this for a living. He spent several years working as a guide on Lake Fork, so he understands this lake. He admittedly was puzzled after a fruitless three-day practice period. But the 33-year-old, Benton, Ark., pro is figuring it out. Blaylock was 28th yesterday with 14-0. That 6-5 to start his day has him well on his way to competing again tomorrow on Lake Fork.
