One thing about being on the edge of the river channel is there is all manner of boats passing.
A few minutes ago, a huge ocean-going ship passed within 200 yards of these guys. It was smoking too, moving as fast as I’ve ever seen a big boat move.
It looked like it was pushing a 10-foot wake off its bow.
Like many river systems big boats moving that much water create a current all their own and initiate a bite.
It happened here too. Not long after the ship passed, Chris Johnston hooked up and landed a 4-pound plus. A few minutes later he added another keeper.
Being on the side of the interstate of waterway travel has its advantages.
