The 20-mile fish

Chris Zaldain just made a game-changing 20-mile run to catch one specific fish. He knew it was there before and now it’s in his livewell.

“It was worth the run down here, that’s a huge cull, about three pounds,” he said of the four-pounder that just went into the livewell.

Zaldain caught the fish in 30 feet of zebra mussel-infested water. Getting the fish on board was a trick—the fish fought dangerously near a pipe covered in the mussels.

But it was worth the risk. Zaldain just moved into second place in the BASSTrakk standings with 18-10 for the day and 42-15 for the tournament.
