This was predicted to be the toughest day in the four-day tournament on Chesapeake Bay. Because of the unusual weather and tide conditions that made practice pretty much a wash, Day 1 was supposed to be more of a "feeling out" process than usual.
"It should get better and better as we go on, if it stays normal," Jacob Powroznik said after Wednesday's practice.
BASSTrakk now shows Powroznik with 16 pounds so far today, which brings to mind a more pertinent Powroznik quote from Wednesday: "If I caught 16 pounds a day, I'd have a real good chance of winning this tournament. That's what it's going to take. If somebody averages 16 pounds a day, they're going to win."
Since this was expected to be the toughest day, Powroznik has to be feeling good about his chances to average 16 pounds a day in the tournament.
