Good Morning from the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite Series at Lake Chickamauga on the Tennessee River with Colgate, Oklahoma native, Luke Palmer.
Palmer, arguable fishing with more confidence right now than at any time in his young Elite Series career, began Day 2 in seventh place.
The Phoenix Pro is coming off a fourth place finish at the Santee Cooper Lakes with 95 pounds and a sixth place finish last month in the Academy Sports and Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk held at Lake Hartwell.
Palmer has boated three bass so far this morning, all in the one and a half to two pound range, but admits his best action came later in the day on Day 1. He’s throwing a series of baits this morning that include a flipping presentation, a vibrating jig, a jerkbait and he’s even dabbled in a large swimbait presentation as well.
He relied heavily on his Falcon Rods yesterday and put 20-1 in the boat and admitted, “it could have been more.”
Palmer had a late boat number (90) to begin Day 2 and if his “later in the day bite” is anything like yesterday, he could be in for a special day.
