Going to ICAST for the first time? Here is your ultimate survival guide!

First things first: It’s a marathon, not a sprint. The Orange County Convention Center is massive, the energy is electric, and if you aren’t prepared, the show floor will eat you alive.

Here is what you actually need to know to survive and crush it:

The Gear You Actually Need

Pack your best tennis shoes: You will easily log 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day on hard concrete. Leave the stiff boots or brand-new shoes at home.

Hydrate like it’s your job: Drink water constantly. You’ll be walking miles inside, and the second you step outdoors, that Florida sun and humidity will hit you like a brick wall.

Prepare for the daily monsoon: A standard Orlando afternoon storm is almost guaranteed. Keep a compact umbrella or a light rain jacket in your backpack.

Pro Tips for First-Timers

Bring business cards (or a QR code): You are going to talk to hundreds of people. Keep your digital or physical cards easily accessible so you can connect in seconds.

Pack a portable charger: Your phone battery will die by 2 p.m. from taking videos of new gear, scanning badges and searching for floor maps.

Leave room in your luggage: You will come home with an insane amount of swag, hats, catalogs and samples. Plan your packing accordingly!

The Business & The Vibe

FOMO is real: There is so much to do that you’ll get home, look at social media and think, “Man, how did I completely miss X, Y and Z?!” Prioritize your must-see booths early.

Connections are everything: This is an incredible event put on by the American Sportfishing Association. It’s a massive hub for retailer decisions, critical conservation conversations and a genuine gathering of old and new friends.

2026 Predictions & Can’t-Miss Events

I’m calling it now—here is what’s going to dominate the chatter this year:

Urchin Baits: Expect a massive wave of urchin-style baits to take over the bass fishing world.

Insane Night Vision: Tech is exploding, and the new night optics are going to have everyone talking.

#BassmastHER: A ton of reely cool, purpose-built women’s gear is finally getting the spotlight it deserves.

The Main Events: Personally, I cannot wait for the State of the Industry Breakfast and the chaotic brilliance of the New Product Showcase!

Go in with a plan, keep your eyes open, and don’t forget to network.

Hope to see you all on the show floor!
