Chris Bowes

Vice President, Tournaments | B.A.S.S.

Chris Bowes serves as Vice President of Tournaments at B.A.S.S., where he oversees the operational execution and strategic direction of the organization’s robust tournament portfolio, including the Bassmaster Elite Series, Bassmaster Opens, B.A.S.S. Nation, collegiate and youth circuits.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1968, Bowes developed an early passion for outdoor recreation, spending his youth hunting, fishing and trapping in the heart of Central New York. He graduated from Westhill High School in 1986 and went on to earn a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from the State University of New York at Cobleskill in 1990.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Bowes balanced a career in equipment maintenance and supply chain management supporting Carrier Corporation with an active volunteer role in the New York B.A.S.S. Nation. His deep involvement in the sport led to his appointment as Volunteer Coordinator for the 2003 Bassmaster Northern Open on Oneida Lake — an experience that sparked a relationship with the B.A.S.S. Tournament Department in Montgomery, Ala.

In 2004, Bowes joined B.A.S.S. as a Tournament Director and quickly became the primary director for the Bassmaster Opens, a role he held from 2005 to 2021. During that span, he directed all but two Opens tournaments — an unmatched track record in consistency and professionalism.

In 2022, Bowes was promoted to Vice President of Tournaments, where he continues to uphold the competitive integrity and operational excellence that define the Bassmaster tournament trails. Chris has two sons, Charles and Noah, and recently welcomed his first grandchild, Emmett, to the family. Chris currently lives in Clermont, Fla., with his wife Lisa.
