Mother’s Day is a good reminder that the outdoors brings families together — and mothers often love the challenge of chasing the fish as much as the rest of the family does. Chris Boysen submitted this photo of Stephanie Boysen, mother of two, with a 3-pound spotted bass she caught on Alabama’s Lake Jordan.
Laurie Tisdale caught this 4-pounder this spring. "My kids have been begging to go fishing again," she said. "I think it's important to get them on the water, and I take them as often as I can."
Tyler Lanter’s mother is a “fishing magician,” according to Lanter. “She loves to fish and has since she was a little girl. She has more determination than most; she will fish in the rain and cold. I am proud to have a mom who loves the outdoors and fishing. She took me fishing my whole life and I love her for it. Not to mention she is a pretty good bass angler, too, and oftentimes outdoes my dad. Her biggest catch was an 8-pound largemouth.”

Matt Ress says “Happy Mother’s Day” to his wife, the mother of his two children.
“My mom has gotten me through so much in my life,” said Matt Kardynalski, “and whenever I have the chance to fish with her, I always do.” Kardynalski submitted this photo of his mom with an 8 1/2-pound hybrid striper. “When she caught it you can see the big smile that went on both of our faces. I always enjoy the time I can get with her on the water. She is always there for me — but, of course, I always find the fish for her :) Happy Mother’s Day! Love you, Mom!”
“This is Mom with her usual big fish of the day!” said Marc Webb. “She always beats up on us guys when she goes! She talks a lot of smack like most fishermen do, but she actually backs it up with fish like this!” Webb added that the fish came from Fort Loudon Lake in Tennessee.
“This pic was taken on my grandmother’s last fishing trip with me and my grandpa back in 2006,” said Brandon Meddings, grandson of Kay Williamson. “She loved to fish and is one of the biggest reasons I am a fan of fishing.”
“This photo is of my mother, Pam Meddings, fishing with me on Douglas Lake in 2010,” said Brandon Meddings. “She took after her mom, Kay Williamson.”
“Here is a picture of me and my mom with one of her best catches,” said Stephen Zaharias. “We have a camp on a lake in New Hampshire, and Mom is always the first on the boat, ready to head out.”
Kevin Reft has a bass fishing family. “This is my wife and daughter,” he said. “It’s my daughter’s first largemouth and a proud bass mommy!”
“This is Mom’s big bass from the only tournament she has ever been in,” said Tami Ott. She caught the fish on Cedar Creek in Texas in April 2011.
Kimberly Spinner wishes Sally McShane a Happy Mother’s Day!
Marty Seales’ wife, Virginia, is the mother of two great kids, he said. And while she enjoys fishing, some of her catches are a little … well, small. “This is one of her big bass on Guntersville!” said Seales.
Marc Sherrill’s mom, Vicky Brackin, caught these beauties during a tournament on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee last fall.
Sharon Thomas, mother of five, caught this bass on the Missouri River in South Dakota last month. Her sister-in-law, Linda, submitted the photo with the caption: “Moms fish, too!”
“Candy is a wonderful mother to three incredible children,” said Kirk Jacobs, “and on this Mother’s Day, we find out if she will be the mother to my first child! She enjoys being out on the water fishing, enjoying nature and screaming like a wild woman when she hooks in a fish!
Kevin Clark’s mother, Linda Clark, caught this bass last January. “I take her fishing for Mother’s Day every year,” said Clark, “and I would take her more often if she wouldn’t show me up like this!”
Joshua Cook wishes his wife a Happy Mother’s Day. The couple have a son, Jaiden.
Jennifer Reid and her mother fished Falcon Lake in Texas and caught eight 10-pound giants! “She likes to point out that she had another one but could only hold up two,” said Reid. “Happy Mother’s Day!”
Jeff Dubois wishes Sandra Feemster Waller a Happy Mother’s Day. She’s the “proud mother of three beautiful daughters and one handsome young man,” he said.
“This is her first bass in the new boat,” said Jason Skinner of his wife, Courtney. The couple are new parents; their son is only 8 weeks old.
“This is my awesome wife with her first bass on a shaky head,” said Jamie Niece about his wife, Cara. They have three children.

Eric Windmoller’s wife, Ja’Nay, gets a lot of fishing love in her family. “She is the mother of two great fisher kids, and a darn good angler in her own right,” said Windmoller.
Dominic Pickett wishes his mom a Happy Mother’s Day.
“My wife is the best mom,” said Dewayne Ford. “She can pack a picnic, feed two kids, break up fights, untangle fishing lines, put sunscreen on the kids, and still catch the biggest bass of the day. And she would rather go fishing than go to the mall — what a catch! I am a lucky man.” Dewayne and his wife, Amy, live in Amory, Miss.
Clay Anglin, 8, is proud of his mother, Janice Oberry, whom he calls a “good fisherwoman.” “My mom might not always catch the biggest fish, but she always has fun. She has fun by catching even baby fish,” said Anglin. “I’m glad I have a mom who fishes with me on the river. She calls us Team Mom and wants a pink boat.”
Cindy Spencer Moulds spends time with her daughter, Christine, on the water.

Steve Aman’s wife, Jill, recently enjoyed a day out with her kids on Deer Creek Lake in Iowa. “They wanted to show their mom outfishing Dad!”
Texas fishing guide Anthony Gallegos has a lot to be thankful for, including his wife and 8-year-old daughter Haley Ray. “She is as pretty as her momma,” he said.
“This is my Mom fishing on vacation in Colorado,” said Rod Stamm. “She fished every time there was water.” Fishing obviously runs in the family; Stamm’s mom also happens to be Brandon Palaniuk's great-grandmother.
“This is her first good fish after learning to fish again,” said Marc Hubbard of his mother, Amanda. She has been in recovery after a stroke.
Ann Minnick and her son, Matthew, make time to go fishing with each other. “Ann likes to use spinning reels and Senkos to catch her bass,” said Jeff Crickenberger.
