Toledo Bend by the numbers

The Bassmaster Elite Series on Toledo Bend presented by Econo Lodge, April 6-9, will be the fifth Elite Series event on Toledo Bend in the past seven years. Situated on the Louisiana-Texas border, Toledo Bend Reservoir is the fifth largest man-made body of water in the United States. Letâs take a statistical look from the previous two tournaments.

Ranked the No. 1 fishery by Bassmaster Magazine for the past two years, the Elite Series pros look to take a similar approach from the 2014 and 2016 events held in early to mid-May, only a week into April, due to a warm winter.

The last time the Elites here Kevin VanDam broke the longest winless streak in his career, adding his 21st B.A.S.S. win, nearly breaking the century mark with 96 pounds, 2 ounces. Only to add two more Elite Series victories before the end of the 2016 season.

Before the âBrent Ehrler rule,â Elite Series rookie Jacob Powroznik, would win his first Bassmaster Elite Series tournament on Toledo Bend in 2014, with 79-12.

7 pounds, 11 ounces â would be the deficit between Chris Lane and KVD in 2016.

While Chad Morgenthaler would lose by just 2-6 in 2014.

The largest bass weighed in 2016 was a 9-5 largemouth, hooked by Stephen Browning within a few cast of the second day of competition.

In 2014, Chris Zaldain held the largest fish that weighed 8-12.

Remarkably, the Top 12 cut in each tournament was a three-day total of 54-7â¦

Though the cumulative total weight for the Top 12 after Championship Sunday was 84-pounds heavier in 2016.

In both tournaments, approximately 70 percent of the fish logged in the two final days of competition were registered before noon.

80 percent of the 392 fish caught before noon in 2016, were logged between the hours of 7 to 9 a.m.

70 percent of the 383 fish caught before noon in 2014, were logged between the hours of 8 to 10 a.m.

Only three anglers finished within the top 20 in both yearsâ¦
