“This has been the worst two days I’ve ever had on Lake Guntersville.”

“The fish seem to be in limbo,” Snowden said. “I think we are here a few weeks too early or a few weeks too late.”

“The bigger fish I have caught have been on a frog around matted vegetation.”

A plethora of Falcon Rods covered Dale Hightower’s deck.

“During the shad spawn I really like using this,” Hightower said. “I’ve got it on a 3/4-ounce weight and punching it.”

Hightower is changing up his trailer depending on the water clarity.

There were plenty of rods on the deck for Sumrall to start the final day of practice.

Sumrall is planning to work his frog around any matted vegetation.

Palmer has plenty of options laid out for the final day of practice.

Yum Bad Mamma
“Top and bottom,” said Palmer “A topwater and a punching bait will my one-two punch.”

What will Elite rookie and Alabama resident Justin Hamner have tied on?

“I’m just punching isolated grass mats,” Hamner said. “Anything that has a canopy, I’m going through it.”

Googan Baits Bandito Bug
Googan Baits Mondo Worm
“I’ll use the Bandito Bug to pitch around in the thicker grass,” Hamilton said. “You can really cover quite a bit of water with the worm too.”

Berkley Choppo
“I’m just fishing it above submerged vegetation,” said Huff. “I’m not getting a lot of bites on it, but when I do it’s usually a big one.”

Strike King 1.5 Squarebill Crankbait
“I’m going to fish it around scattered grass and try to get a reaction bite,” said Talley. “These fish are starting to eat bluegill.”

Topwater walking bait
“I’m just trying to catch on a shad spawn early in the morning,” said Whatley “You can get right in a hurry if you hit it right.”

Patrick Walters will try to continue his great season on Guntersville.

“The fish are in transition right now,” said Walters “If you want to catch a bag, you gotta throw the ole Carolina Rig.”
