Nation: Day 1 weigh-in

B.A.S.S. anglers and fans were indeed “Born to Fish” and both groups braved temperatures that climbed to nearly 100 degrees on Wednesday on Day 1 of the Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Eastern Regional presented by Magellan Outdoors. The tournament is being held on the Winyah Bay System with launch and weigh-in taking place at the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex in Georgetown, S.C.

Gary Pope seized the Day 1 non-boater lead early in the weigh-in with a three-bass limit that totaled 10-4. Pope lives in Georgetown, and said he may be the only angler in the field with a true home-water advantage.
