Discover downtown Greenville

The week has come for the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICKâS Sporting Goods. Downtown Greenville, S.C. will play host for the events. Letâs take a look around at some of the things to do on your Classic trip!

The streets of Greenville are filled with public art including statues and monuments.

The father of Greenville, Vardry McBee, is one of a few statues perched in front of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce building.

Each statue has a stone inscription describing the significance of each monument.

The Greenville Chamber of Commerce building, is registered in the U.S. National Historic Places. Built in 1925, the ten-story brick building is one of many architectural features in downtown Greenville.

The streets of downtown Greenville can easily be traveled on foot or by trolley. Downtown Greenville is full of southern cuisine, nightlife, events and historical markers, making it ideal for a day with the family.

One of the many places to visit is the Peace Center, where the Tony-award winning Broadway production of The Color Purple will be showing the week of the Classic.

Walking past the Peace Center, is the TD Amphitheatre.

The stage is on the banks of the Reedy River.

Falls Park on the Reedy is a 32-acre park adjacent to downtown.

The park features a pathway that walks through the horticulture and nature of downtown Greenville.

The Liberty Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that curves around the waterfalls of the Reedy River.

The long suspension bridge is an ideal place to walk andâ¦

â¦view the cascades of the Reedy.

The walkway leads to the entrance of the gardens beyond the river.

Views of the Liberty Bridge from the entrance of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a landscaped garden with scenic views of downtown Greenville.

âThe Medusa Treeâ is a very old tree that is at the front of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

After walking the trail, I passed many restaurants and boutiques that line the banks of the Reedy.

I came across a unique shop that sells homemade beef jerky and southern specialty food, for the Bassmaster Classic the shop importedâ¦

â¦fish jerky for Bassmaster Fans. Greenville Jerky and Vine is located on Main Street.

I was able to access a rooftop view of downtown Greenville, courtesy ofâ¦

â¦SIP Whiskey and Wine, which features a rooftop seating area, live music, small-platesâ¦

and televisions for March Madness basketball.

On to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, the site of the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic
weigh-ins. The site is also host of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, a minor league hockey team.

The free event will be opened to B.A.S.S. Life and Nation members at 3 p.m. and to the general public at 3:15 p.m. The weigh-ins are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Right up the road is the TD Convention Center, this is the location of the Bassmaster
Classic Outdoors Expo presented by DICKâS Sporting Goods. The expo will start the first day of competition from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16th, as well as 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The 260,000 square-foot-plus expo will be free for admission and include special events such as Bassmaster Get Hooked on Fishing! presented by Toyota and Shakespeare a family-oriented fishing event and the first ever fan appreciation day on Thursday, March 15th, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
