During his welcome, Hank Weldon announced the Team of the Year, which was awarded to Bethel University's Dax Ewart and KJ Queen.

For the keynote address, the anglers were honored to hear from Green Beret and author Greg Stube. Stube has since retired with 23 years of service, to become the host of his own television show on NBC Sports, “Coming Home with Greg Stube.” Since the conclusion of the tv series, he has developed what he calls “Lessons Learned from the Battlefield,” to give these products back to society through youth development, business consulting and Law Enforcement training.

Early in the evening, Bill Carson with Humminbird/Minn Kota wrote on four hats a secret prize that would be given away to the random anglers that found the secret in hats that were given away during the sponsor greeting. One of those prizes was a Humminbird Helix.
