Back to Winyah Bay - Bassmaster

Let me ask you a question, you and I know what these things are, theyâre cool metal 3 or so feet tall sculptures of goats, rightâ¦

â¦okay try and explain that to a 2 foot tall Shih Tzu, this is his âNope I donât want to look at them look, nope, nopeâ¦,â As far as I know our Shih Tzu, Riley has never seen a goat, metal or real, in his life and is not going to start now.

Yep Georgetown South Carolina and Winyah Bay are once again âOpenâ for the Bassmaster Elite Series. Itâs one of my fav stops on the tour, I was last here in 2016, Iâm back with B.A.S.S. again this year, but with a twist, I dug it so much the last time that this time I brought my wife, Barb, and our Shih Tzu to see how cool the joint is. Thatâs here walking way down the street away from the goats.

âHas it always been this quaint?â she asks as we stroll down Front Street, ââ¦you never said it was quaintâ¦â

â¦probably true but I did write it was âcoolâ which is, you know, a guyâs word for âquaint,â âcharming,â and quite possibly âpicturesque,â which of course I didnât respond back to her that way, this was my exact response back, âUh huh,â which wasâ¦quaint.

Georgetown is the third oldest city in South Carolina, founded in 1729â¦

â¦and a few years later in 1732 became an official port of entry.

This city does a great job remembering itâs past whileâ¦

â¦building new places out of the oldâ¦

â¦while not only accommodating us two legged folks but also our four legged friends, if you are a dog lover (I never say owner since to be correct dogs actually own us) this place is for pooches, er, umâ¦

â¦a Shih Tzu in the wind, today was a very windy day and this is Rileyâs look that says, âDudeâ¦windâ¦come on man, time to go.â And so we did toâ¦

â¦to it seems an even windier place, the other side of Winyah Bayâ¦

â¦the Atlantic Oceanâ¦

â¦and no the folks who brought B.A.S.S. here didnât close the beach just for us, as I said, it was a very windy day but you know whatâ¦

â¦yeah this area has great fishing, and you know what, you want to spend more time fishing, hereâs how you can do that, bring your wife, family, loved one, even the dog with you, bring them here to this part of South Carolina, lots to do for the whole family (and no one is paying me to say that, I just happen to dig the âquaintnessâ of the joint) check it out in Spring and Fall not just the summer you never knowâ¦

â¦you may just find some buried treasure. Truth in writing stuff here, Iâve been here twice now, found it to be full of kind, decent, polite hardworking folks much like you, itâs a comfortable place to spend some time, come and watch the Elites do their thingâ¦and then stay awhile check out the whole place, um, er, oh noâ¦

â¦the exact shot and moment when Riley has had enough of the wind and the sand on his feetâ¦ âget me off of this stuff oh wait a minute whatâs that a bird just flew by (Shih Tzu attention span)â …time to go once again not a wind or beach dog, but hey come see the Elites this week, lots of stuff to do at the tourney, and afterwards around here.
